A Family Project with Character – Four Houses, One Shared Home

Nestled in the picturesque Swiss countryside with a direct view of the lake, a very special building project was completed in 2024. On a long, narrow plot of land that has been in the family for generations, a father and his children created a residential complex that harmoniously combines closeness and individuality. Each of the four houses was built by Biberbau in close collaboration with the architectural firm Kälin Architekten – with a keen sense of space, light, and family needs.

The idea: each member of the family should have their own retreat without losing the sense of togetherness. The result is four independent houses, each with approximately 125 square metres of living space – deliberately not oversized, but rather designed to be adaptable, sustainable, and future-proof. The exterior design follows a unified style, while the interiors are individually tailored to the lifestyle of each family. The father also lives on the property – so the family remains connected without losing their privacy.

Despite the unusual shape of the plot, the architectural team succeeded in creating a tailor-made living space for each family. Generous roof terraces with unobstructed lake views, light-filled rooms, high-quality oak floors, and cosy fireplaces create an atmosphere that conveys both security and openness. The client placed particular emphasis on design, high-quality fixtures and fittings, and thoughtfully planned landscaping – every detail was carefully selected.
