Are glazing vents acceptable under the new guidelines as an alternative to trickle ventilation?

Yes, if they perform to the requirements of table 1.7 and are controllable.

Are your fabricators certified?

REHAU Fabricators follow the recognised Kite Mark License process and are audited regularly by the REHAU Service engineer team.

Are your products manufactured in the UK?

Almost 95% of our window system profiles are manufactured at our Blaenau Ffestiniog factory in Wales. These profiles are largely made up from recycled materials. Any specialist products such as the Passivhaus certified GENEO system is imported from Germany.

Are your products Secured by Design/PAS24 tested?

REHAU Windows and Doors are tested to PAS24 for security. They are also fully weather tested.

Do acoustic vents have to conform to the same EQA and be stamped as standard trickle vents?

Sound attenuation ventilators have to follow the table as detailed in section 1.7 of APD-F and marked as detailed in section 1.16.

Do you have a flush fit system?

Yes. The 'A' Energy rated Rio flush fit features clean lines and a true finish in order to ensure minimalist impact on the property's exterior. Do you have any products that are approved for use in conservation and listed areas?

Yes. The REHAU Heritage window system has been developed following extensive consultation with conservation bodies and housing associations and offers a wide range of features and benefits.

Do you have fire-rated products?

Yes. The RAUFERNO PVCu fire resistant window, provides you with all the safety and security of traditional fire rated products, but with PVCu’s added benefits. Do you have Passivhaus Certified products?

The main UK Window Profile is TOTAL 70 - a 70mm system which can achieve the thermal performance required of the Passivhaus standard while GENEO made of RAUFIPRO a composite material is fully Passivhaus certified. Our Passivhaus certification is available on request.

If a kitchen has a hood vent over the hob/oven, does this class as natural ventilation and void the need for trickle vents?

No, as this is does not class as a continuous method of ventilation, but instead an intermittent extraction.

If a customer is going to have mechanical ventilation installed to the upper floors of the house, but has chimneys via open fires to all lower floors do they still need trickle ventilation?

Yes, chimneys are not a controlled ventilation method. In all cases of any gas or combustible material they must be extracted by methods approved in APD - Document 1.

If the homeowner refuses to have trickle ventilation can I have a disclaimer signed to cover me with FENSA/ Certass etc.?

No, there is no facility for customers or installers to issue disclaimers to omit trickle vents.

If the window is not wide enough to fit two full 4000mm trickle vents side by side, shall I put one in the sash and one in the head of the outer frame?

Yes, if this does not impact on weather performance. Please Note: If it is not technically feasible to adopt the minimum equivalent areas set out in paragraph 3.15, the background ventilators should have equivalent areas as close to the minimum value as is feasible.
